If variety is the spice of life, then this week is going to be hot, hot, hot. From big, bold nose-to-tail cooking to Alsatian comfort fare and enlivening Mexican zing, London’s hottest new restaurant and bar openings promise something for every mood.

Behold, a reason to go to Canary Wharf: a hyper sustainable, nose-to-tail spot from the team behind Fallow and Fowl, where delights include a flame-grilled fruits de mer platter, a brilliant 3D printed sculpture and a gargantuan terrace.

Open now. 5 Park Drive, Wood Wharf, E14 (roerestaurant.co.uk)

July

Alsatian-inspired comfort fare? Don’t mind if we do. We’ll be settling in here for former 40 Maltby Street chef Holly Hayes’ seasonal creations, such as nettle and spinach soup with smoked bacon and a whole roast Fosse Meadows chicken with homemade mayonnaise to share.

Opens 25 Apr. 10 Charlotte Street, W1 (july.london)

El Pastor

The finishing touch: Tostadas at El Pastor
Teo Della Torre

If there’s one thing London needs more of, it’s excellent Mexican restaurants. Following two successful spots in London Bridge and Soho, Battersea is getting its own shrine to tacos and Margaritas.

Opens 26 Apr. Battersea Power Station, SW11 (tacoselpastor.co.uk)

Two Drops

The team who brought us the aforementioned El Pastor as well as The Drop, Barrafina and Quo Vadis is set to unveil a new ‘neighbourhood’ bar in Battersea Power Station promising wines, beers and damn good toasties. Make a beeline for the classic cheese, made with with two generously buttered slices of sourdough filled with Jurarégal (a cheese made from raw cow’s milk in the Franche-Comté region of eastern France) and toasted until golden.

Opens 26 Apr. Battersea Power Station, SW11 (thedropbar.co.uk)
