A sorry West Ham were hammered 5-0 by Chelsea on Sunday as any slim hopes of European qualification went up in smoke.

With uncertainty around the club as David Moyes enters the final weeks of his contract ahead of a likely summer exit, the Hammers offered up a disinterested display as the Blues ran riot.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring, before further strikes from Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke put the game to bed before half-time. Nicolas Jackson then added a double after the break to compound a miserable afternoon.

Here’s how Moyes’s side rated at Stamford Bridge...

Alphonse Areola 5

Not much he could have done with any of the goals and it might easily have been more but for several decent blocks.

Vladimir Coufal 5

Absolved of some blame by virtue of the fact Chelsea’s best work came down the opposite flank.

Kurt Zouma 4

Not strong enough against Jackson in build-up to Palmer’s opener. Didn’t bother tracking the striker for Chelsea’s fourth.

Angelo Ogbonna 3

Slipped in the lead-up to Palmer goal and generally exposed by Jackson’s dynamism. Booked.

Emerson 3

Run ragged as Madueke and Palmer overloaded down the Chelsea right. Missed a sitter after half-time. Booked.

Tomas Soucek 4

Failed to get near Palmer as he drifted into the inside-right channel. Nuisance value in the box almost made Bowen goal.

Edson Alvarez 3

Looked leggy as Chelsea bossed the midfield. One of his least effective performances in a West Ham shirt. Dragged at half-time.

Jarrod Bowen 6

The only West Ham player to emerge with any serious credit, twice hit the bar in the first-half, then for a third time late on.

Lucas Paqueta 3

Looks to have phoned it in at this point. Form has gone off a cliff at the back end of the campaign. Did play a terrific pass for Emerson chance. Booked.

Mohammed Kudus 4

Another who hasn't matched the heights of the first half of the season in recent weeks.

Michail Antonio 5

Tried to make things happen but got no change out of Thiago Silva.

Substitutes

James Ward-Prowse (Alvarez 46’) 5

Sent on at half-time with a thankless task. Went close with a couple of free-kicks.

Danny Ings (Antonio 70’) N/A

Aaron Cresswell (Paqueta 76’) N/A

Unused: Fabianski, Johnson, Casey, Earthy, Cornet, Mubama
